Dance Palace

    • The centre of St.Petersburg is changing: the new Europe quay quarter is being developed on 10 hectare of industrial wasteland on the northern bank of the river Newa. It is planned to finish the construction by 2016.

Opposite to the Hermitage a new large-scale perimeter development and shore cultivation according to the design of Berlin architect Sergei Tchoban will be created. In the new blueprints the classical structures, however, were always taken into consideration.

On a central spot at the south-east corner of an oval court a new and representative theater building for the renowned Ballet-Ensemble by Boris Eifman will be built. At the project contest in 2009 the futursistic design by UNStudio – an architecture office from Amsterdam – won against the ideas by Jean Nouvel and Snøhetta Arkitektur.
