Data Privacy Regulations
The protection of the users’ private data is one of our main concerns.
We believe that a portal such as mapolis can only be built based on trust and observing data privacy. In order to achieve this we have taken all technical and organizational measures to be able to sufficiently meet data privacy regulations.
1. Basic Principles of processing the User’s personal Data
The platform shall gather, process and use personal data under consideration of the Data Protection Act of the Federal Republic of Germany and data protection guidelines of the European Union.
The platform shall use personal data only to enable the use of the provided services. Under no circumstances shall personal data be forwarded to third parties for advertising or marketing purposes or any other reasons.
As far as required in individual cases, the platform may forward personal data of a registered member to third parties if we have information that content uploaded by a registered member violates commercial protective laws (copyright law, brand rights or other ancillary copyright or any other immaterial rights).
In order for the user to register with the platform, certain personal data need to be gathered and processed as registration data.
3. Profile Data
The platform shall allow the user to create and display a profile of his or her own along with other data.
mapolis shall use so-called Cookies (“small text units“) when you visit our platform. These Cookies shall be stored on your computer. This allows us to recognize the user and to adapt our platform to match your interests.
In case you do not wish us to recognize your computer (hard drive Cookies), you may adjust your browser in such a way that it deletes Cookies from your computer’s hard drive, blocks all Cookies or alerts you before a Cookie is stored. However, with settings like these we cannot guarantee that you will be able to use all our services without any restrictions.
The platform shall use social plug-ins ("Plugins") of the social network facebook.com, used and operated by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA, ("Facebook"). These plug-ins are marked with a Facebook logo or the "Facebook Social Plugin" amendment.
When calling up the www.mapolis.com website that contains such a plug-in, your browser will establish a connection to the Facebook servers. The plug-in’s content will be forwarded from Facebook to your browser right away and integrated into the mapolis website by your browser.
By integrating the plug-ins Facebook is informed of you having called up the respective page of our website. If you are logged in to Facebook, Facebook will be able to assign your visit to your Facebook account. If you interact with the plug-in by pressing the “Like”-button, for instance, or post a comment, your browser will forward this information to Facebook and the information will be stored there.
For more information on the purpose and scope of this data collection, further processing and use of data through Facebook as well as related rights and settings for protecting your privacy, please read Facebook’s data privacy information.
If you do not wish Facebook to collect data about you, you will have to log off from Facebook before visiting mapolis.com.
6. Log Files
If the platform is called up by the user, access data will be stored on the server. The platform will use these logs anonymously for statistical purposes, so that the information will not be able to be allocated to any specific user.

Google will transmit this information to a third party, if necessary, as far as this is legally required or as far as Google processes these data on behalf of third parties. As specified by Google itself, Google will not connect your IP-address with other Google data. You can prevent the installation of Cookies by adjusting your browser software’s settings accordingly; we shall point out, however, that in this case you may not be able to make full use of all the services on this website. By using this website you shall agree with Google processing your data the way as described above and for the aforementioned purpose.
